History
The Westlake Academy Foundation was established in 2003 as an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation to raise and receive contributions in support of the quality education at Westlake Academy. It was organized exclusively to provide operational and supplemental funds for educational programs and activities benefiting the students and teachers of Westlake Academy. The Foundation offers the opportunity to:
- Attract funds from donors who will only donate to a 501(c)3 organization;
- Raise financial support to supplement – not replace – existing school revenues;
- Expand community and financial support of education in Westlake Academy;
- Create a perpetual source of endowed funds for a premier, IB education.
Demands on the school’s annual budget generally does not allow for additional funds for program enrichment and special initiatives. As the school has grown and expanded, so, too, has the Foundation, adding initiatives and campaigns to provide resources for students and teachers now and in the future. In 2009, we launched the Westlake Baja golf event to raise funds to recruit, retain and develop quality teachers. This same year, the Foundation celebrated a successful $5.1 million capital campaign with the opening of the Sam & Margaret Lee Arts & Sciences Center.
